The two live peacefully until they are drawn into someone else’s plot and Xingyin is again forced to flee her home. We pick up with Xingyin recovered and living with her mother, the love-triangle from book 1 is still not resolved and her and her mother are under very close watch from the Emperor. This book picks up shortly after the conclusion of book 1 – we aren’t left on a cliffhanger but there was still room for more of a story to be told and this book grasped that chance and runs with it. The plot is as twisty as that of book one, and balances action and emotion perfectly. The rich descriptions are perfectly crafted and the single POV works well with the story. Heart Of The Sun Warrior is as gorgeous, lush and beautiful as book one was – the prose is sweeping, compelling and vibrant.
